Cosmas Agwu Uka is a priest of the diocese of Umuhaia in Nigeria. He was born into a large Catholic family: he is the eldest of six siblings.
"I received a Catholic education from elementary school, a fact that made it easier for me to discover the call to a priestly vocation.
When I finished elementary school, I already knew that I wanted to become a priest, so I entered the Minor Seminary and later the Major Seminary.
When the time came for my priestly ordination on July 21, 2018, I realized that God had called me to be the light in the darkness and help in the evangelization of my country.
July 21 became a special date for me, not only because it was the day of my ordination, but also because on that same day in 1990, I received the sacrament of baptism.
Following the path proposed by God and the wishes of my bishop, I returned to the Minor Seminary to teach there as Dean, while carrying out pastoral work in the parish where I was assigned.
At the end of 2019, my bishop communicated to me his wishes that I come to study in Rome, to continue my formation in Philosophy so that I could be a better formator in the Seminary in Umuhaia."
"Having the opportunity to study here, at the Pontifical University of Santa Croce, is for me a great joy and a blessing.
I am tremendously grateful for your generosity in allowing me to continue my training. I will always remember you and keep you in my prayers.
I promise you that this gesture of generosity will not be in vain, because with my formation you are helping to improve the studies of all the seminarians of my diocese."
